Golden Mantra to Pick the Best Low Cost Flight for Yourself

'Cheap flights'
We’ve all searched for this on the internet at least once in a while. With airfares dropping to a substandard count in India, its reach and outcry have increased all over the country. People prefer traveling by airplanes for a faster commute at a nominal spend of money. There are certain times when the airfares soar sky-high, but, with some measures can be minimized to provide you with budget travel and importantly, a comfortable journey.

Here, we reveal the wisest airfare secrets, tried and tested experimentally by budget travelers all over the world, which will help you to find the best low-cost flight you can ever get. Comparing flights and airfares is just an old fashion now. You got to know the tricks of the trade!

Book seven weeks ahead of time
It is known that passengers pay merely 6% below the average airfare if they buy their tickets seven weeks before their flight. That is the brilliant guideline majority of touring journals and articles swear by. Digging up further, Airlines Reporting Corporation, a company that processes ticket transactions, stated in a 2014 report that the overall average ticket price for domestic flights can be discovered  57 days (8 weeks) prior to the departure.

For International flights, the lowest average ticket price was found to be 171 days (24 weeks) before departure. Unfortunately, this cheap flight secret could not make it to the rule of budget flight finding. The only rule that remained rock solid is the Seven Week Rule.

What this proves, is that there is a mighty deal booking early, especially for short-haul and domestic flights. So if you plan for a weekend getaway, better buy your break well in advance.

Tuesday Thriller
Surveys suggest that the best day of the week to buy flights is a Tuesday. Seemingly, this is due to airlines announcing Contempo deals on Monday evenings. By Tuesday noon, other airlines are busy matching those deals. So Tuesday afternoons are the best to hunt for reduced airfares.

Subscribe for email alerts from your favorite airlines
Last minute deals are probably hard to find, but not impossible. Consider visiting a few of your favorite airlines and signing up for their newsletters. This is fortunately how you can fill your inbox with news full of flash sales, new routes with introductory rates, and importantly, last minute deals on flight ticket bookings. Back on Tuesdays; set your eyes on Tuesday afternoon. By this point, most airlines will know whether their weekend flights are fully booked or not. If they still have a lot of empty seats, this is when they will slash the prices and inform subscribers via online platforms.

Credit Craving
Have a credit card. If you have a good credit score, you might consider applying for an airline credit card that rewards you with Avios points (Airmile credits), redeemable against set flight routes. The finest way to build up Avios miles is to use it for day-to-day purchases (For Groceries, Fuel, and Dinner) and sticking to your usual monthly spend or budget. The more you spend, the more points you end up earning! Consider paying off the credit debt in full every passing month so that you don’t have to pay the interest.

Two 1’s, Not One 2’s
Variable, but buying return flights with one airline can be more expensive than purchasing two one way tickets from different airlines. For an example, flying from Hyderabad to Mumbai with AirIndia on a cheap one-way flight and then booking a cheap one-way flight back home with Indigo. This method provides you with more flexibility, as you may come back whenever you want or even fly home from a cheaper airport.

The 24-Hour Rule
Some airlines may offer you a free refund if you cancel 24 hours prior to the point of departure. All you have to do is, watch the price of the flight you’ve just booked with airline prices alert sites such as cleartrip, skyscanner or airfarewatchdogs. If the costs of the flights drop considerably, you might favor canceling the old one and booking a new flight. You will have to be a bit careful as some airlines may charge you a cancellation fee if you’re quite outside the 24-hour window.

Now that you know the basics, save some of those credits and buy your loved ones a gift to cherish. Wishing you happy traveling. From all of us at Bookwow!
